| The word granite comes from the Latin granum, a grain, in reference to the coarse-grained structure of such a crystalline rock.Granite is igneous stone (produced from intense heat). It started as liquid magma from the depths of the earth. Under extreme pressures and slow cooling process granite became one of the hardest and most dense types of stone. It is made up quartz, mica and feldspar. |
