Granite
    Granite
Granite is nearly always massive, hard and tough, and it is for this reason it has gained widespread use as a construction stone. It has been extensively used as a dimension stone and as flooring tiles in public and commercial buildings and monuments. Polished granite has been a popular choice for kitchen countertops due to its high durability and aesthetic qualities. The granite tiles can be used effectively on walls and floors in either a seamless tiled format by themselves, or alternatively mixed in with other materials or stones, e.g. stainless steel, or the flamed and brushed granite. The tiles are extremely hard wearing and are ideal for use in high traffic areas of the home, as well as areas where resistance to staining is important.

The word granite comes from the Latin granum, a grain, in reference to the coarse-grained structure of such a crystalline rock.Granite is igneous stone (produced from intense heat). It started as liquid magma from the depths of the earth. Under extreme pressures and slow cooling process granite became one of the hardest and most dense types of stone. It is made up quartz, mica and feldspar.
